I was between sleep and wake when the imagery of a race started to play out infront of me. In the race there was a runner who was a good distance ahead of the other runners so much so that I was beginning to lose interest in watching the race as I thought he would surely win. But even as I thought this there was a sudden development and runners that were behind started gaining momentum until some were neck on neck and others seemingly poised to pass the runner who had been in front initially. I thought to myself that the runners were now so close that the officials would have to use digital technology to tell who the winner is. But as soon as I had that thought I noticed that yet another upset was about to take place as another runner steamed forward from behind overtaking the entire pack to win the race. I remember thinking that he (the winner) must have gotten a new wind and I finally woke up with the scripture “you do not have beacuse you do not ask on my mind”.
Can we in prayer ask this morning for the Lord to grant His people a new wind to run the race that he has called us to run. Some of us have been running in our own strength and with our own wind but this morning can we ask that the strength of God… the wind of God, the spirit of God, the gifts of God be our portion so that we may finish this leg of the race in fine style.
Amen
